About this release
Extended Place celebrates the music of the great Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov with the EP 'Valentin Silvestrov: Bagatelles Op. 220 (For A. Stella)'. In 2020 Alessandro Stella released the album 'Handsome Skies' dedicated to Silvestrov's celebrated Bagatelles for piano—enchanting, heavenly pieces in which melody plays a central role, made famous in the early 2000s by Silvestrov's own ECM recording. Some time later, Valentin Silvestrov dedicated his Bagatelles Op. 220 to Alessandro Stella, who recorded them as an homage to the great composer.
