About this release
Paying homage to Glenn Gould's concept of "The Idea of the North"—the title of his celebrated 1967 radio documentary—Italian violinist Ivos Margoni and pianist Alessandro Stella examined the extraordinary but still little-known repertoire for violin and piano by composers of the Nordic Council countries. They ultimately chose five secret gems by Christian Sinding, Jean Sibelius, Wilhelm Peterson-Berger and Fini Henriques, each representing one of the five countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden—forming an ideal Suite. Ivos Margoni, born in 1999 and already winner of the Premio Nazionale delle Arti in 2018, has quickly established himself as one of the most interesting violinists of his generation. 'Nordic Suite' is his recording debut and the ideal follow-up to Alessandro Stella's album "grieg | notturno".
