Music for a Summer Evening

A luminous work for solo piano by Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, recorded as a tribute on the occasion of the composer's eightieth birthday. His album Midwinter Spring, devoted to Kancheli, Pärt and Vasks, had brought Alessandro Stella into direct contact with the composer, who gifted him the score as a gesture of gratitude.

Music rooted in birdsong, forest silences and Baltic light — a sound world Vasks shares with the great voices of his generation.
