About this release
In 2017 the Guinness World Records counted 67,591 recorded versions — making Summertime the most covered song in history. Gershwin wrote it as Clara's lullaby for his 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. Tōru Takemitsu's 1977 transcription is among the most touching of all its reinterpretations.
