About this release
The editorial vicissitudes of the 24 Preludes for guitar by Manuel Ponce are as complex as they are fascinating. Completed by Ponce in the 1920s, only twelve of them were published—revised by Andrés Segovia—in 1930. The complete cycle had to wait almost half a century to see the light. In (in)complete preludes, the Italian guitarist Giacomo Palazzesi tackles the entire cycle starting from an in-depth study of the manuscript, in search of the deepest intentions of the Mexican composer. Of the 24 Preludes originally provided by Ponce, the manuscript of the Prelude in G major has not been found—hence the choice not to replace it, entrusting the listener and the interpreter with the task of imagining one of the infinite Preludes in G major possible. (in)complete preludes is the first EP in a cycle dedicated to the music of Manuel Ponce.
